Cinco de Mayo has become much more than just a way to celebrate the Mexican army’s victory that took place against the French forces on May 5, 1862. It has become a day to party, celebrate and give everyone the taste of Mexican culture. In America, Cinco de Mayo has become widely celebrated. When we fiesta we really like to fiesta! Be sure to host your own Cinco de Mayo party! Simply decorate your home in South of the Border colors. There is nothing mild about the culture so be sure to throw in vibrant turquoise, yellow, lime green, red, purple and fuschia! Your costume party is sure to become fiesta ready with this bright color pallete. Adding some Tequila with lime, Corona beer and Margaritas to the drink menu will have everyone ready to begin the fiesta! Dressing the part is by far my most favorite part of a Cinco de Mayo party. Men can dress in festive Mexican sombreros and dd a poncho, jeans and embroidered shirt. Women can tie their hair back in colorful ribbons, where ruffled skirts or brightly colored dresses accessorized with Mexican serape shawls. Have some fun with it and get creative.
